PLANNING THE NEXT 24 HOURS:Temperatures will climb into the lower to mid 90s on Monday with heat index values ranging between 105-110°F. An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect for almost everyone, starting 1pm Monday and last through 8pm. There is an Excessive Heat Watch for southern Wisconsin Tuesday.
EXTENDED FORECAST: While a few storms may be possible Monday night, it's likely most storm activity stays northwest and north of the area. Overall, there's a better chance for severe weather across parts of southern Wisconsin Tuesday late afternoon into the evening. Though heat could limit the storm potential, we have a lot of storm energy and very steep lapse rates. If storms do develop they would likely be severe Tuesday. Very large hail and strong winds would be the main threats, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The cold front passes and cools temperatures back into the 80s starting Wednesday. 70s return by the second half of Labor Day Weekend.
